Dear Congressman Thompson:

On behalf of the Board of Supervisors, I am writing in support of the Freshwater Pulp Company and their vision for the future. At the May 12, 2009 Board of Supervisor’s meeting, the Board received a comprehensive economic and environmental update from the company president, Bob Simpson in which Mr. Simpson outlined efforts to work with State and Federal representatives in pursuit of funding for environmental enhancements to the mill.

In addition, Mr. Simpson discussed the company’s ongoing efforts to work with the North Coast Regional Water Quality Control Board, the Northcoast Unified Air Quality Management District, timberland owners, the Regional Forestry Stewardship Council and the employee workforce to ensure a successful start up of the mill.

The Board unanimously endorses Freshwater Pulp’s vision and direction for the future and looks forward to their positive contributions to the economy and the environment.
